Introduction
Easter celebrates the most important event in human history—the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. This isn’t merely a beautiful story or inspiring legend but historical fact that serves as the foundation of Christian faith. Without the resurrection, Christianity collapses into meaningless religion. With the resurrection, Christianity stands as God’s ultimate revelation and our certain hope.
Paul’s definitive statement on the resurrection shows why this event matters absolutely. The resurrection validates Christ’s claims, verifies God’s promises, and guarantees our future.
I. RECEIVE the Gospel Truth
“Now I declare to you, brothers, the Good News which I preached to you... that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:1, 3-4).
The gospel centers on historical facts: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose on the third day—all according to Scripture. Numerous eyewitnesses verify these events, and receiving this gospel brings salvation.
II. REALIZE What’s at Stake
“If there is no resurrection of the dead, neither has Christ been raised. If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, your faith also is in vain... If Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins” (1 Corinthians 15:13-14, 17).
Without resurrection, everything collapses—preaching becomes empty, faith becomes futile, sins remain unforgiven, and hope dies. The stakes couldn’t be higher; resurrection isn’t optional doctrine but essential foundation.
III. REJOICE in Christ’s Victory
“But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:20).
Christ HAS been raised! His resurrection is firstfruits guaranteeing our resurrection. Death is defeated, victory is won, and our hope is secure in the risen Savior.
