FREE PREVIEW: Understanding God’s Will for Your Life

This is a condensed preview of this week's full Bible study lesson, available exclusively to paid subscribers.

Introduction

Few questions trouble Christians more than “What is God’s will for my life?” We want to make decisions that please God and align with His purposes, but often feel confused about how to discern His leading. Some Christians become paralyzed by fear of missing God’s perfect plan, while others make decisions without considering His will at all.

Scripture provides clear guidance for understanding and following God’s will, but it may not always match our expectations about how God leads His people.

I. DISCOVER God’s Revealed Will

“Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105).

God’s will is first and foremost revealed in Scripture. Before seeking special guidance for specific decisions, we must understand and obey what God has already made clear in His Word.

II. DISCERN God’s Leading Through Wisdom

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him” (James 1:5).

For decisions not specifically addressed in Scripture, God provides wisdom through prayer, godly counsel, circumstances, and the peace of Christ to help us make choices that honor Him.

III. DECIDE with Faith and Confidence

“Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Once we’ve sought God’s guidance through Scripture and wisdom, we can make decisions with confidence, trusting that God will direct our steps and work through our choices for His purposes.
